Episode: 7 Telling Your Kids You Have Cancer
In this honest and raw episode, Garth and Dara share what it was like when they each had to tell their young daughters they had cancer.
Garth has gone down this path 5 times, and says it doesn’t get any easier. Recently diagnosed with cancer for the fifth time, he describes how hard it is to look Emma in the eye and have to tell her his cancer has come back.
Dara’s daughters were 11 and 14 when she was diagnosed, and she’ll always remember the sound of her youngest daughter hyperventilating when Dara told her about being diagnosed with cancer.
No-one wants to ever get cancer. But, having young children makes the experience even harder. Garth and Dara discuss the feelings of guilt they both encountered, as they watched their daughters struggle with having a parent who has cancer. They also share tips that will help the audience should they find themselves in a situation where they need to share difficult news with their kids.
